Conklin to start tomorrow

Coach Mike Babcock said that Ty Conklin will get the start in goal, Wednesday, in St. Louis. Somewhat odd timing with back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. You'd guess that Conklin would start one of the back-to-back games and Chris Osgood would go the other two, but that's not the plan.

Ozzie showed us last year that he is at his very best when he is well rested, so why not have him and Conklin split games throughout the season? Not to mention, Ozzie has looked a bit shaky at times thus far (though in his defense, so has the majority of the team), and Ty looked great in his debut. If I were Babcock, I'd have them split games and go with the hot hand come playoff time.

I agree . . . I think Ozzie
does better when he has something
to prove, so I like the idea of
them splitting time.

Plus, Ty Conklin has played
well. I feel confident in
our goaltending, even if it
is by committee.
