Conklin to get second straight start Monday
Coach Mike Babcock said right after tonight's win that Ty Conklin will start again, Monday -- the first time this season that the No. 2 netminder will get back-to-back starts. Asked why, Babcock answered, "Because I want him to." Babcock later termed the second start a reward for Conklin's performance.
Incidentally, Conklin's wife, Erika, will give birth to the couple's third child tomorrow. For a week, the Conklins will have three kids under the age of 3.

Because Babcock didn't want to say what he really thought of the way Osgood has been playing.
This is a good move. Ozzie could use a bit of a break, get some perspective back in his game.
The rest of the boys could use the same thing...
Conklin is really a solid goalie, I wasn't sure about him when the season started but he could easily take the #1 spot if he keeps playing like he has. just keep winning...I don't care who is between the pipes:)
It's also Ty's first chance to play at home..good for him
I was not particularly impressed with Conklin's rebound control yesterday, but I suppose I haven't been terribly impressed by Osgood lately either...
I agree with Lani, if Conklin and Osgood don't step it up, I say call up Howard and give him a shot
Ozzie will be fine, relax. He's still our best bet.
I'm not saying either of them are playing particularly horrible, I'm just saying Osgood and Conklin have been mediocre. I think Howard can still play without clearing waivers, right? If we continue on our current pace through December, why not call him up for a few games in January?
No point. Howard needs to up his game and prove he can be that goalie Detroit needs. He is taking steps in that direction. Why call him up when Osgood and Conklin are fine? I doubt both are going to struggle seriously at the same time during this season.
Howard's time will come, but it's most likely no this year.
