We're trying something new at the paper. I'll be on our website starting a half-hour before the start of Tuesday's Game 3 and throughout the game, hosting a live thread. If you've got your computer handy, stop in and say hi ...

Live blogging. Q&A (I'll have as many Qs as you). Bring your own snacks.

Nope. My paper stopped travel for all the pro sports in January.

as long as we're starting early, you like keeping chelios over meech? and what about maltby? to me, he's looked weak on the PK. i'd rather see helm killing penalties and leino taking maltby's place on the fourth line.

i'm also surprised that babcock didn't mix up the lines at all during game 2. in the regular season, he wouldn't hesistate to change things up even in a tie game if he felt like the lines were getting stale. i though for sure we'd see hank reunited with pav at some point during that game.

Just a little advice...it's not "the paper" anymore. Recognize the technology age we are in and refer to that way.

Other than that, look forward to reading your blog - always admire your efforts and analysis.

Thanks for the compliment. OK ... it's not "the paper", then what is it? Hasn't "the paper" become a word that has new meaning even though it doesn't literally apply? Isn't it like the Utah Jazz or LA Lakers or Calgary Flames ... means something other than its original intent.

I think part of the future success of newspapers (fingers crossed) is that their brand will have value on the internet. So keeping a connection, pointing out that this is the web site of a news gathering organization that dates back to home delivered, boys hawking on corners is important.

Or maybe not. lol

Hey jl. I'm not a fan of Chelios being in the lineup right now. I realize that there are injuries, but I'd prefer to see Meech. The problem right now is that using Meech extensively at forward this season has done either or both of the following ...

-- screwed up Meech
-- caused Babcock to lose confidence in Meech

I'm not sure Meech would do better right now than Chelios. But I'd like to see him given at least a one-game opportunity. If it's not going well, just play Meech the seven minutes you'd play Chelios. Not much risk.

I didn't mean to turn your post into this, as i come here to read about the Wings and your analysis.

The brand of your "paper" is "The Macomb Daily" - that's what you should be pushing. I know it's common place, especially when your in the industry, to call it "the paper". To refer it as something else, is a mind exercise - to break the mold of old. I don't want to see you and your insights go away, but holding on to this idea of it being the old fashioned home delivered paper is what's killing the industry. The Macomb "brand" is what will carry the picture of the old fashioned newspaper. The new method is still "home delivered news" (there's your tagline) but obviously it's a different format.

To me (yes i'm a tech guy) "the paper" just sounds like a dying industry, not knowing what to do but still doesn't want to give up doing things the old fashioned way. If you want to survive, thats what you have to do. And i realize that's what your trying to do with the "live" blog. That helps, but so does consistent fresh news - ala George James Malik and Kukla. With that said, i'd still rather read your stuff, it's local and doesn't speak to us on a third grade level. So tell your boss your "fans" want to hear from you more - much more. After all, you are part of what makes the brand.

Good luck!

I've just been schooled. I love it.
I now get it. The Macomb Daily it is and I'm dropping "the paper".
But since my company is a chain of many papers ... oops, newsgathering organizations with a strong online presence ... do I say The Macomb Daily/Oakland Press/Daily Tribune/Morning Sun.

Ah, too much thinking. The Macomb Daily it is.

Enough jibber jabber, let's drop the puck already!

And would Leino and Abdelkader be available to the Wings for the rest of their run if the Griffins get bounced? (Sorry Maltby).

Yes, they'd be available.

And let me make one thing clear ... at 10 p.m. tonight, I won't be here, I'll be on The Macomb Daily web site ...

but until then, I'll be checking in here.

What is your impression of Mike Babcock's thoughts on Chelios. It's obvious that he respects the guy, but as of last year, I didn't get the impression that he liked to play him. If Babcock had his choice (given the injury situation), do you think he would still play Chelios or use a Griffin?

Here's my impression of Babcock ... "We have to put pucks on the. You can do all the fancy stuff you want between the blue lines and it adds up to zero goals. More stick-to-itiveness."

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Two part of the Chelios situation. First is I think that Babcock would much sooner have not had Chelios on the roster this year. That's my guess. Second part you bring up Matt is who would play instead? Don't know right now. I think Ericsson during the season. But now with the injuries, Meech is the only choice and we can see that Babcock prefers Chelios to Meech. So, I guess it's a good thing that Chelios was kept on the roster in that light.

Isn't Leino already called up and waiting as a healthy scratch? I wouldn't mind seeing him crack the lineup.

Opponents have scored 6 power play goals in their last 11 opportunites. Might as well stick Leino in there seeing as how the PK can't possibly get any worse.

Leino isn't with the team. He's with the Griffins. And I wouldn't put him near the PK.

Any insider updates on possible forward lines changes for game 3?
What about Leino to be called up?

If Samuelson is so good on defense, why not make him the another Dandenault - a defenseman. That way he can log more minutes than Chelios. Or would that be too much change?

No insider updates about line changes. sorry. Leino is with the Griffins until they're eliminated as far as I know.

No Samuelsson on defense. No.
No.
The skill set is too different. As seen occasionally on the power play, Sammy's strength isn't skating backwards and neutralizing the rush. He's good at doing the forward's job of defense, not the defenseman's. I wouldn't put him in net either.
No.
