Wings to wear unique jersey in outdoor game

Here's the press release ...

The NHL Winter Classic 2009 jerseys will be unveiled during the broadcast of the game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Oct. 25. WGN-TV and FSN Detroit will broadcast the game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30pm ET) and marks the first time the two clubs will meet this season. The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings each will wear a unique, one-time-only jersey while playing in the NHL Winter Classic 2009 at Chicago’s historic Wrigley Field on New Year’s Day.

... What the heck. As long as you're trying to sell the sport, why not sell a few jerseys too.

I've never seen a 3rd jersey worn by the Wings.
Do they have a 3rd jersey?
I hope not!
There is no better uniform in the NHL than the Red Wings.

Just so long as the Wings don't wear those horizontal striped throwbacks! Please just bring back the old school-style logo from the Howe era.

I think it's pretty pathetic. There's nothing all that unique about the game-- other than the venue. It's not like teams made it to the Stanley Cup final, the holy grail of championships, or did anything beyond being geographically - and historically - fortunate with regard to NBC preferences.

Yes, I know it's a business but this entire thing is pretty 'fabricated' stuff.
