Lebda done for the night

UPDATE: Lebda will not travel with the team to Columbus tonight. Meech will be back in the lineup in his place. Coach Mike Babcock said that Lebda is in pain with back spasms, catching Clutterbuck's knee in the back as he ducked to avoid a hit.

---

Brett Lebda suffered a back injury when he was run into the end boards by Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck 1:10 into the second period. Lebda didn't return to the game.

With two minutes left in the first period, Lebda upended Clutterbuck with a hip check. The return hit on Lebda looked like retribution.

No word yet on whether Lebda will be out of the lineup for a while. With Brad Stuart on injured reserve, this could open a spot for Derek Meech.

I was at the game last night and received the Winter Classic poster. Which one is Hossa? Is he behind McCarty? Thanks for the help.

Hey Joe.

You are the unanimous winner of the first Unexpected Comment Award. Seriously, made me smile.
Yup, that's Hossa in the back row right behind McCarty ... big blonde guy.
I realize there's no other place to put this question. But the funnybone in me loves the thought of walking up to Lebda and saying, "Hey, had a comment on my post about your back injury ..."

If you do go up to Lebda to tell him that, you should tell him that a Notre Dame hockey fan left him a comment to feel better soon! Have there been any updates yet? I wouldn't be surprised if he had the same problem as Stuart and injured some ribs or cartilage.

Hey Bruce!
Is there any news about Lebda? I'm not sure that pair Chelios-Meech is strong enough - they had a lot of mistakes in the game vs Jackets... Hope, Brett will be back in the line up soon.

P.S. Bruce, check you Macomb Daily mailbox, please.
