No Datsyuk for Game 2

Coach Mike Babcock just said that there will be no lineup changes tonight. That means no Pavel Datsyuk (who didn't take the ice for practice this morning) and no Kris Draper (who skated).

It's going to be hard to win this thing without Datsyuk.

Do you think we will see Pav again this year? I mean, it's the finals, if the injury is what they say it is, and it can't be structurally damaged by playing on it, then it seems like he should be taking the needle and hitting the ice.

Even if he can't turn on a dime, if he can skate quickly straight ahead, he's got the vision and hockey smarts to help slow down Malkin and Crosby.

Anything I say is a guess ... but what the heck. Tuesday is possible. The way he skated Saturday morning, it didn't look like he'd play tonight. Thursday is more likely.

But the more that they talk about it, the more I fear that he won't be back. Babcock is being too nonspecific and downplaying it too much for it to be good.

Yeah, it seems that way... unless he can do some significant structural damage by skating on it, they've got drugs to take away the pain for the next 3 - 6 games.

If i'm babcock, and up 2-0. I let it ride during game 3. I might even consider dressing downey or mccarty if anyone else is banged up. Sure, that might be tanking it a bit, but they are really taking some liberties and those two guys send a message that detroit is prepared to tango if they really want to dance. Maybe bylsma will even make the mistake of answering with a goon of his own and sacrifice a skill player that could give detroit an advantage.
