Brunnstrom clarification
I've seen a lot of different things about Swedish prospect Fabian Brunnstrom, who is being sought after by a number of NHL teams, including the Red Wings. There have been a bunch of different facts thrown out that are contradict each other. Here's a few clarifications from my conversation about Brunnstrom with Detroit general manager Ken Holland.
-- Brunnstrom cannot play for any NHL team this season. That includes the playoffs. He is eligible to play in the NHL at the start of the 2008-09 season.
-- No team can negotiate with Brunnstrom before his Swedish season is complete. That includes any time at the World Championships if he's chosen to compete there. That means that April or May is the earliest that Brunnstrom can sign a contract with an NHL team.
Brunnstrom has been a big success in his rookie season in the Swedish Elite League. That has drawn attention from a number of NHL teams, including the Red Wings.

No team can negotiate with Brunnstrom until after his Swedish season is over? Uh, you might want to double-check that, since Holland has been quoted elsewhere as saying they've made him a contract offer.
I'd like to see a direct quote from Holland saying they've made him an offer. No negotiations. No offers. No sir, wink wink.
