Door open for Draper

Will Kris Draper play tonight? Coach Mike Babcock deferred when asked the question, saying that's the medical staff's decision, not his. Babcock said that Draper will be evaluated at game time.

At least that's telling us that he's no longer being ruled out early in the day. Makes you think that Draper is either ready to play or will be soon.

I don't think this is about making room for Draper in the lineup. He's been put on wing before and just the value of Draper's faceoffs will make him one of the 12 forwards to play when he's ready.

How do you feel about inserting a player into a game seven of the second round after he's been sitting out for weeks now with an undisclosed injury?

Obviously Draper has extensive experience and brings top-notch faceoff skills, but your current roster has done a good job of getting you where you are and they've battled together to get to this point.

Oh, you said put him on a wing? So you mean put him in for Maltby? Okay, that makes sense then.

I would rather put in mccarty and leino than draper and maltby. but i've been saying that since pre-season.

maltby and draper may not get in the hall, ever, but they will at least be discussed and deservedly so. however, mccarty gives us more edge and puts ducks on their heels, leino adds a legitimate scoring threat to the fourth line with abdelkader and adds a full line of zippy legs to a tired series.

Let's break that down:
Franzen: go get the puck, feed it to filpula, set up hossa.
Homer: go get the puck, feed it to datsyuk, set up zetterburg
Helm: go get the puck, feed it to Hudler, set up samuelsson
McCarty, go get the puck, feed it to leino, set up Abdelkader.

rinse. backcheck. repeat.
