Update on Wings' injuries

Coach Mike Babcock just said that that it looks like Pavel Datsyuk won't play tonight but that he had a big improvement which could help him in a return for Thursday's Game 4.

Kris Draper might play tonight, according to Babcock, but only if Mikael Samuelsson doesn't play. Draper skated this morning and Samuelsson did not because of an undisclosed injury. If Samuelsson plays, Draper will sit. That means that the fourth line of Abdelkader, Maltby and Leino is together again tonight.

Why keep Maltby in instead of Draper? Draper could center the fourth line and Leino might get more chances that way. The Wings need to be better on faceoffs in Game 3.

i know this has nothing to do with the wings injuries but i couldn't find a section for my question here. just wondering if you heard any info on the rumors I'm hearing everywhere that Hossa signed a 7yr extension. most likely just rumors but SI is reporting it as well. Just wondering if there's any truth to this or any rumblings you may have heard on the matter. much appreciated and keep up the good work. Every morning i come into work, the first thing i do i read what new blogs you have posted. keep em coming. Go Wings!!!
