Newbury assigned to GR
Forward Kris Newbury has been assigned to Grand Rapids. Perhaps Valtteri Filppula is ready to return.
UPDATE: Now we know the reason ... Red Wings recall Mattias Ritola from Grand Rapids. Ritola was drafted by the Wings in 2005. He has played two NHL games, both in 2007-08. Ritola has 14 points in 31 games with the Griffins this season.

Someone coming back from injury? Otherwise they would be going with 17 skaters on Wednesday. Cause they weren't scratching anyone healthy the last two games were they?
This means he's ready to return Wednesday (?). If not, wouldn't Newbury be needed just to have four complete lines?
