Red Wings sign two prospects

The Detroit Red Wings signed prospects Matthias Ritola, a center, and Johan Ryno, a right wing, to three-year entry-level contracts, today.
Both players were drafted by Detroit in 2005 ... Ritola in the fourth round (103rd overall) and Ryno in the fifth round (137th overall).
“Mattias and Johan are two highly-skilled young players,” said Detroit assistant general manager Jim Nill. “They will attend our training camp this fall as a part of their continuing development towards the goal of playing for the Red Wings in the NHL."
Ryno, who turns 21 June 5, played 39 games in the Swedish elite league this season -- his first in that circuit -- tallying five goals and 11 points.
Ritola, 20, played 26 games in the Swedish first division (one level below the elite league), tallying two goals and six points.

Christofer Lofberg, Jeff May, Juho Mielonen, Bretton Stamler, Andreas Sundin, Stefan Blom, Tomas Kollar and Mikael Johansson are the Red Wings' other prospects whose signing deadline is today. The team relinquishes its rights any player who is unsigned by the deadline.
